Sibiu (431m) is a city in Transylvania, Romania, with a population of about 137000. Sibiu is one of the most important cultural centres of Romania and, in tandem with the city of Luxembourg, it was designated a European Capital of Culture for the year 2007. The city administers the Păltiniş ski resort. The city is about 20 km from the Făgăraş Mountains, 12 km from the Cibin Mountains, and about 15 km from the Lotrului Mountains away. Transylvania is the southern part of the Carpathian Mountains

Local and international companies provide day and multi day trips in this wonderful area.

You can also enjoy a Helibiking adventure.

Romania is slowly but steadily finding its identity as a mountain biking destination. Romaina is mostly hills and mountains with plenty of dirt roads, mountain treks, trails that go through amazing forests and pastures all the way up to two thousands meters. The climate is mild, with long and warm autumns that provide good cycling conditions till November. Still, things are far from perfect. There isn’t a network of “official” mountain biking tracks with proper signaling as in the Alps. No printed mountain biking guides or maps about Romania are available for the self organized tourists. Go with the local guides or companies.
